1. Thee Oh Sees - Fortress
This single (2 songs) has been out for a few months, but I am just getting to it, and it rocks. It has the usual freakiness I've come to expect from Thee Oh Sees, but the driving guitars and drums will keep your head bobbing.
  2. Sheer Mag - III
This ep from Philadelphia rockers Sheet Mag is pretty badass. Singer Tina Halladay wails over guitars ghat sound like lofi, post-punk Thin Lizzy.
  3. Ceremony - The L-Shaped Man
Ok, this record is actually from last year, but I somehow missed it, so I'm just listening now. John Reis from Rocket from The Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes, and a zillion other incredible bands produced this record, and it's pretty fantastic. Ceremony has moved away from their harder-edged earlier albums, and if you like Joy Division, you'll like this.
