AKA my life for the past 11 years
  1. A lot of people don't understand lactose intolerance
  2. I know it's not the most troubling disorder in the world, but I thought I'd explain it for anyone who is curious
  3. First of all, lactose intolerance is not an allergy to milk!!!
There are people out there who are allergic to dairy. That is not us.
  4. One time, as I was about to eat a piece of chocolate, a girl in my class ran up to me saying "You can't eat that! It has MILK in it!"
Thanks, Emma, but I am perfectly aware of my dietary restrictions
  5. Basically, my intestines don't have a certain enzyme (lactase) which breaks down a component in milk (lactose)
  6. Symptoms can range anywhere from a little gas to serious vomiting. Other people get bad headaches and dizziness
  7. Personally, my symptom is severe stomach pain
  8. I take lactase supplements with dairy, and I usually have no problems. This works for most people but not all
  9. Anyway, even if you didn't care, at least you leaned something today
  10. The more you know
