(My first list on List!) Books for kids that might not be in their home libraries yet. Slightly off the beaten path. Age suggestions are my own.
- •The Seven Silly Eaters by Mary Ann HobermanGreat rhythm and rhyme, fun illustrations, preposterous child-inflicted dietary needs. So much fun! I practically have this one memorized and sympathize with the mom every time I read it. Ages 2-8
- •BOB by Tracey Campbell PearsonSilly rooster, don't you know you're supposed to crow?? No? Fine, get there by croaking and meowing and mooing... Ages 1-6
- •The Sleep Book by Dr. SeussMaybe Seuss isn't lesser-known but this book seems less likely to be in a read-aloud collection. Around here we love it and it gets quoted often. It's LOOONG, and thus good for an older kiddo's bedtime, but sometimes we read just a few pages and it's still great. Ages 4-8
