Due to my work, I know every damn thing about Giving Tuesday, the global day of giving following Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
  1. This year, GT is on December 1.
Coincides with World AIDS Day. No beef between the two (as far as I know).
  2. GT began in 2012 when the 92nd Street Y and the UN Foundation teamed up to put some giving back in the giving season.
  3. This is only the fourth year, but the event is HUGE now.
Last year, 20,000 nonprofit orgs participated, raising over $45 million.
  4. Last year, nearly 700,000 tweets used the hashtag #GivingTuesday.
That's about the same as when one of the guys in One Direction sneezes. So, it's a big deal.
  5. No one has ever been trampled to death while rushing to donate to a nonprofit on GT.
Just saying, it's safer than the mall.
  6. Almost 30% of all charitable donations happen in December.
It's often make or break for social impact orgs.
  7. Remember to check and see if your favorite charity is fundraising. Or give now so you don't forget.
