30 LESSONS I'VE LEARNED BY 30

I'm officially 30 years old. I present to you: 30 lessons I've learned thus far...
  1. 1.
There are many things to hate, but other than pissing you off, living your life focusing on all the "stupid" "annoying" or "pointless" things surrounding you is a waste of time. That's not to say you must convert to loving them, it is just to say that there are more productive things to focus on.
  2. 2.
There is little point in asking "what did I do to deserve this?" Chances are there isn't an answer. Its cause and effect, not behavior and merit –sometimes good things happen to bad people & bad things happen to good people.
  3. 3.
There are mountains of truth in the saying: "love when you're ready, not when you're lonely"
  4. 4.
Never spend more time taking pictures of a moment than you spend actually being in the moment.
  5. 5.
    Always wear underwear.
  6. 6.
You don't owe anyone anything but you should still give, because no one owes you anything and that doesn't stop you from expecting.
  7. 7.
Everything dies; humans, moments, feelings-they all pass. Remember that, it helps you feel gratitude for the good times and relief during the bad things.
  8. 8.
There is a point where moving on becomes more important than understanding.
  9. 9.
Your parents are humans and went through the same things you did. Remove them from any pedestal you've put them on, it will make the relationship better.
  10. 10.
Everyone feels like everyone else, just not at the same time.
  11. 11.
Always follow your intuition/gut feeling, even if you have no rational reasoning to justify the feeling; follow it anyways, it’s always right.
  12. 12.
Read everything you can. Knowledge really is power.
  13. 13.
Walk away from situations and/or people who threaten your self-worth, peace of mind or self-respect.
  14. 14.
Hurt people, hurt people. Explanation: Hurt (adjective) people, hurt (verb) people.
  15. 15.
Apply the same rules you use with money towards time -invest it wisely, always save some for yourself, and don't waste it.
  16. 16.
Express gratitude to the compassionate, kind, understanding people in your life. Now not later.
  17. 17.
You’ll always hold more power than you think you do. The greatness of the day is what you make it to be.
  18. 18.
You've got a soul, use it.
  19. 19.
Take care of your teeth. Flossing can seem annoying, but go floss right now and then smell your floss...yeah that's why it's important.
  20. 20.
Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate
  21. 21.
Be your age. Revel in the perks of being whatever age you are. At this exact moment: you are the youngest you'll ever be again, and the oldest you've ever been.
  22. 22.
Most of life's frustrations can be eased by drinking more water, taking a long walk and getting adequate sleep.
  23. 23.
People are not against you; they're for themselves. Keep your integrity even when others don't, otherwise you are just like them.
  24. 24.
Put your phone away. Talk and listen to people. Enjoy your surroundings.
  25. 25.
Never loan friends or family money. If you want to give them money, that's fine, but don't expect repayment.
  26. 26.
Just because your pain is understandable, does not mean your behavior acceptable.
  27. 27.
Work as a server, host, or busser in a restaurant for 3 months -what it will teach you is irreplaceable. Trust me.
  28. 28.
Learn about yourself. Your likes, flaws, weak spots, best quality, preferences, boundaries, etc. Being self aware will help you in every area of your life.
  29. 29.
Learn to forgive yourself. You'll fuck up royally on multiple occasions. Regret is a hell of a weight to carry around. Learn from it and let it go. Failure is never final.
  30. 30.
It cost $0.00 to be a decent person. Don't be an asshole.
