A list of some incredible animal names mentioned casually in Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods" that makes me think the Smokies are somehow also the backwoods of Hogwarts.

- •Smokey MadtomA fish both discovered and made extinct in the same breath in 1957 by PARK SERVICE BIOLOGISTS, of all people. (The species was later rediscovered in a nearby stream in 1980).
