It's just one of those days, y' know?
  1. Favorite Batman?
    Suggested by @andersun
  2. A: Michael Keaton
But Christian Bale is a better Bruce Wayne.
  3. What's your go-to origami when someone asks you to teach them to fold?
    Suggested by @andersun
  4. A: There are three possibilities
I go for a little bird, a dollar bill heart or, if I think they can handle it, a dollar bill elephant. (Yes, any banknote will do.)
  5. Who's your favorite Superman?
    Suggested by @andersun
  6. A: There will only be one Superman: Christopher Reeve
Although I don't hate Henry Cavill
  7. Who's your favorite James Bond?
    Suggested by @andersun
  8. A: The name is Connery. Sean Connery.
    Followed closely by Daniel Craig.
  9. What's the name of your time zone?
And what time is it now?
    Suggested by @andersun
  10. A: This is Caracas/La Paz
And right now it's 4:06 pm
  11. Do you dream in Spanish or English?
    Or some other language?
    Suggested by @andersun
  12. A: Mostly Spanish
But there's always someone speaking English. I may have heard some French the other night.
  13. What's a fun fact about Venezuela that most Americans don't know?
    Suggested by @andersun
  14. A: Ooooh, I love this one
Most middle class Venezuelans you meet can at least give directions in English, if not at least mildly bilingual. Everyone knows at least a few words. Cable and satellite tv access is everywhere --you'll seer DirecTV antennas in every shantytown-- so there is a LOT of English (especially American) exposure.
  15. Whatever happened to Hugo Chavez?
    Suggested by @andersun
  16. A: He died in late 2013
And God forgive me... but I hope he burns, this is all his fault.
  17. Would you rather be trapped in a stuck elevator with a banjoist or an accordionist?
    Suggested by @andersun
  18. A: Banjoist!
    I sorta hate the accordion!
  19. Same elevator: ventriloquist or mime?
    Suggested by @andersun
  20. A: Ventriloquist
But I could tolerate the mime.
  21. Is there a good origami for un perro?
    Suggested by @andersun
  22. A: Dogs can't make origami, Eric. ;)
Seriously, there are several good origami dogs, from simple three fold ones to a spotted Dalmatian from an uncut square. This is my favorite, folded by me.
  23. How far in meters to the closest Starbucks to where you are currently sitting?
    Suggested by @andersun
  24. A: 1,402,000 meters
The closest one is in Bogotá. Colombia.
  25. If I visited you in Venezuela, where would we go first and what should I know about your country?
    Suggested by @Boogie
  26. A: Of course I'm assuming Caracas, so...
A day in El Hatillo, a little colonial town in southeast. Best breakfasts in town (although the best arepas; that's for day two), lovely, quiet strolls and shopping (there's a huge store that sells traditional artisan souvenirs and an even bigger mall right next to it). And we'd go out for beers and such. (But please wait till the country is safer for tourists.)
  27. What's coming up in the origami series you've been posting on IG? They're delightful!
    Suggested by @jhope71
  28. A: wouldn't that ruin the surprise? ;)
I am winding down to Christmas, so the theme will soon change. I will say, I will honor the Chinese zodiac for the first week of January. :-) (And btw, thank you!)
  29. Describe a Venezuelan hug.
In Costa Rica it was a embrace with air kisses at each side of the face. (Sometimes it was a full kiss on the cheek.) I also experienced a handshake/half-hug if it was a more formal place.
    Suggested by @jhope71
  30. A: hahaha love this
We go for the cheek kiss and full embrace. If it's someone special we haven't seen in a while, it comes with a rock to and fro. Now I miss those hugs. :(
  31. What are your top three favourite fruits?
    Suggested by @Diplomatic_diva
  32. A: Mango, pineapple, papaya
In that order. I worship mango.
  33. Do you cook, and if so, what is your favorite edible creation to make?
    Suggested by @NumbahTwo
  34. A: This is classic "yes but"
I can defend myself in the kitchen, but I am far from truly cooking (I have an ongoing war with chicken). I do make a mean omelette, and I love trying to come up with things I can put in it.
  35. Who is your favorite writer?
    Suggested by @jannychan
  36. A: The King of Stephens.
  37. Why is your omelette mean?
(Was it unloved as a child?)
    Suggested by @andersun
  38. A: It is mean because it beats up ze little girly omelettes and laughs in zeir puny faces
Ozer omelettes are little vimps. (Yes, I loved Hans and Franz.)
  39. What's the going price of gasoline/petrol near you?
How would that compare to the $2.19 US I pay for a US gallon?
    Suggested by @andersun
  40. A: Get ready to get depressed.
As of February of this year, it is a staggering... ...38 cents a gallon. And that was a 6000% increase from the last time they increased, in 1996.
  41. Is gasoline the same price everywhere?
Controlled by... the government? Or the gas companies?!
    Suggested by @andersun
  42. A: Yes, that's a national price.
And yes, right now the government is the sole gas provider.
