Your LA cultural guide | week of 5/25
  1. DO: Dwell on Design LA + LADF
    41570a33 8e7b 4168 ab65 43216fd02bcd
The planets of design, architecture, and art are all in alignment this week for Dwell (a 3-day Modern design tradeshow) and LADF (50 design events over two weeks). KCRW’s DnA has your ticket to the multitude of events and your guide to unjumbling the beautiful chaos.
  2. GO: Spoon
    6128a7a7 714a 4949 bbfe c8b2872589c7
Spoon already sold out their show at LA's newest Downtown venue, the Teragram Ballroom, BUT enough resale tix are still avaliable to see them at the Wiltern this Friday! If you haven’t had a chance to see front-man Britt Daniel strut his stuff on stage, get your taste now.
  3. EAT: Odys + Penelope
    39de7f0b 4f0b 4867 baa6 6c7f200eede4
With a Mediterranean-leaning paleo friendly menu, this spot is devoted to meats cooked over fire, but porridge of millet and cauliflower and a slice of chocolate pie steal the show. Jonathan Gold also likes the bacon wrapped chicken thighs and churrasco sirloin cap.
  4. LISTEN: Dawes Album Preview
    97e677b0 e179 445a bced d55af06d13df
Dawes is part of the renaissance in L.A.'s legendary Laurel Canyon folk-rock scene – they even spent a summer on the road with Bob Dylan. The brother-led band just released their 4th full length album (preview below)… plus tune in for a live session on June 3rd!
  5. SEE: The Pizzicato Effect
    Bd8dd832 8b01 4b82 839c cf2ad30f886d
Experience a unique mash-up of stand-up, TED Talk, and Rock and Roll from funny guy Brendan Hughes and singer-songwriter Jeffrey Dinsmore. It’s their screwball attempt to answer three questions of profound significance: Where do we come from? Why are we here? and What happens when we die?
