Movies I Watched in February

Warning: it's an unreasonable amount. I started the month already into a goal to watch all Best Picture winners from the 2000s. Then I also decided I had a goal of watching as many of the 62 Oscar nominated movies as I possibly could (having already seen a decent number). Plus I watched other movies. Oh well.
  1. 1.
    Straight Outta Compton
Finally caught it on HBO. Liked it more than I expected to.
  2. 2.
The roommates wanted to watch one night. About halfway through, I was the only one still awake πŸ™„
  3. 3.
    Hell or High Water
Nominated for Best Picture. I really liked it! Reminded me in ways of No Country for Old Men.
  4. 4.
    Life, Animated
Nominated for Best Documentary Feature. I loved this movie!! It's streaming on Amazon Prime - check it out.
  5. 5.
    Slumdog Millionaire
    Best Picture 2008
  6. 6.
    Captain Fantastic
Nominated for Best Actor. This was a sweet one.
  7. 7.
    Kubo and the Two Strings
Nominated for Best Animated Feature. I couldn't get into it.
  8. 8.
    The Hurt Locker
    Best Picture 2009.
  9. 9.
    The King's Speech
    Best Picture 2010
  10. 10.
    Documentary Shorts
I was able to watch all of them except Watani: My Homeland. So The White Helmets, Extremis, 4.1 Miles, and Joe's Violin. White Helmets was my fave, so I was excited it won!
  11. 11.
    The Artist
Best Picture 2011. I love this movie!
  12. 12.
    Suicide Squad
Academy Award winning Suicide Squad. Gross. I know it's just for Makeup, but still. πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„
  13. 13.
    Salam Neighbor
A non-profit my friends run hosted a screening of this documentary and a discussion about refugee issues. It's worth watching!
  14. 14.
    Best Picture 2012
  15. 15.
    I Am Not Your Negro
Nominated for Best Documentary Feature. This movie is beautiful. I was alone in my row at the theater and I basically cried through the entire thing. See it!
  16. 16.
    The Salesman
Nominated (and won) for Best Foreign Film. Different from what I expected, but I loved it.
  17. 17.
    A Man Called Ove
Nominated for Best Foreign Film. This is the one I would've voted for. I laughed and cried. It's beautiful.
  18. 18.
    Nominated for Best Picture
  19. 19.
    12 Years a Slave
Best Picture 2013. I hadn't seen this one before. 😭😭😭😭
  20. 20.
    Live Action Shorts
Got to watch all of these - Sing (Mindenki), Ennemis IntΓ©rieurs, La Femme et le TGV, Timecode, and Silent Nights. I was surprised by this one. Expected it to be Ennemis, would've voted for La Femme.
  21. 21.
    Animated Shorts
Got to watch Piper, Blind Vaysha, Borrowed Time, and Pearl. Didn't find Pear Cider and Cigarettes.
  22. 22.
    The Lobster
Nominated for Best Original Screenplay. So so weird. I didn't hate it, but I'm not sure if I liked it.
  23. 23.
    13 Hours
Nominated for one of the sound ones. I hated this movie. I watched it and read the Wikipedia summary after, and I still feel like I have no clue what happened.
  24. 24.
    Jim: The James Foley Story
Nominated for Best Original Song. A documentary about a combat journalist killed by ISIS. Find it on HBO.
  25. 25.
Fun fact: I ended up getting to see 47 of the 62 nominated movies! I feel like a nerd but also super proud.
Not proud: I still have 2 more 2000s winners to get to and I didn't finish them in February. But I'll watch them in March!
