I was 18 eight years ago. Here are some advice I wish I had gotten, and hope I would have listened to if I did
  1. It's okay to break a heart
If the alternative is staying together just to be nice
  2. It's really okay to be alone
You don't have to have a boyfriend to be happy
  3. Make the effort to keep in touch with your friends after you go to college
It's so easy to get caught up in all the newness of college, but it's worth the effort. Even when it feels one-sided, you'll be thankful you made the time to reach out
  4. College will be amazing, you made the right choice
This isn't really advice, just encouragement
  5. Don't worry so much
Advice I need to take even today
  6. You're about to have your world flipped upside down. You'll get through it and it will make your life better
I graduated high school in May, we sold our house in June, lived in a few places in July, was dropped off at college in August and my parents moved to South Carolina. It was overwhelming but 100% it made me better able to handle change and know how capable I am to do so
  7. Say yes to new things, but know your limits and stick to them
  8. You don't need to bring that much stuff to college
  9. Know who your friends are and forget the rest
