Carlo Gesualdo: he's cool
I listened to a few pieces by Gesualdo, and i am pretty sure that the gems in his vast œvre greatly outnumber those which enriched Qin Shi Huang, first emperor of china. (Also, he killed three people, including his first wife)
- •Moro, lasso, al mio duolo
- •Ancor, che per amarti
- •Languisco e moroI learned about this song while reading the wikipedia page of the neapolitan chord, this seems to be one of its first appearances. Btw: by my impression, a list about things with "neapolitan" in it's name could be quite funny. Apart from the here mentioned "neapolitan chord", there is also the "neapolitan debt", and in germany there is a kind of cookie called neapolitan as well (and i was assured that the cookies have no clear relationship to the city of Neaples).
