Five Best Holiday Songs I've Added to My Collection Since Last Christmas Eve

Since last Dec. 24, I've added 135 holiday tracks to my collection. Recognizing that opinions and tastes change over time, here are the ones I like most so far.
  1. 1. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Jason Cheng
I'll have a list about my favorite holiday song next week. This version, by a sextet based in Hong Kong, brings cheer.
  2. 2. My Favorite Things, Leslie Odom, Jr.
First, I know some who object to this song as part of the holiday canon. This version features a riff from "Carol of the Bells," so there. Second, all of the tracks on this former "Hamilton" star's holiday album are wonderful.
  3. 3. Ring Christmas Bells, Carla Bley and Steve Swallow and The Partyka Brass Quintet
The "Carla's Christmas Carols" album, a gift from my brother, is also chockablock with gems.
  4. 4. Please Let Me Be Your Santa Claus, William Clarke
I was in the Nanuet Fairway late last holiday season when this wafted from the PA system. I was so taken that I Shazamed it and bought it.
  5. 5. Deck the Halls, Pomplamoose
This track kicks off my brother's 2016 holiday compilation with an injection of much-needed cheer.
