17 THINGS I'VE LEARNED BEFORE TURNING 18

  1. 1) Just because you aren't good at one thing, does not mean you aren't good at anything.
  2. 2) In the end, the only one you can depend on is yourself. Love yourself and treat yourself kindly.
  3. 3) Do not say maybe if you truly want to say no.
  4. 4) Anxiety will cripple you when it is least convenient. That being said, do not let it consume you. It's a feeling, and like all feelings, it will subside
  5. 5) It's okay to be on your own, independency is not being alone but being with yourself.
  6. 6) Everything works itself out. No matter how difficult things appear, eventually it will be resolved.
  7. 7) Listen to what others have to say. Often times, the people around you will start to mold you, so surround yourself with positive energy.
  8. 8) Put yourself first. Absolutely no one's feelings should be prioritized over your own. Do what you feel is right and be done with it.
  9. 9) Live life outside of your comfort zone. Character is built from awkwardness, find situations you wouldn't normally want to be in, and put yourself in them.
  10. 10) Life is too short to focus on the physical, nurture your mind before being consumed with your body.
  11. 11) Contrary to popular belief, not everyone believes what you do. Stand up for yourself, but be open to new perspectives.
  12. 12) "Treat yo' self"
  13. 13) Where you go to college is not as huge as you tell yourself.
  14. 14) You are more than an ACT score and a GPA, these numbers are just that, numbers.
  15. 15) Be the kind of friend you would want to have, you never know who needs one.
  16. 16) Do not pity yourself, life goes on, so move on with it.
  17. 17) Turning 18 does not mean you are thrusted into adulthood. Continue to eat ice cream for breakfast and build forts.
