Not all are surprising, but are very different from corporate life.
  1. Lack of central authority, at least significantly less pronounced. Much less structure, which is both good and bad.
  2. Much slower pace.
  3. Many projects and jobs are tied to specific funding measures voted into effect.
  4. Specific to schools, but an impressive number of paid days off.
  5. Specific to Colorado, but there is no social security for many public jobs. Why? Their system predates social security so they stuck with it even when the federal system came into play.
  6. No free coffee 😢☕️
