1. Read. It makes you want to write.
  2. Sleep. It makes you feel like you're capable of reading, like your mind is a machine in good order.
  3. Go out in the world. Drive. Walk. Dance. Get the mail. Go in a grocery store. Talk. Listen. It all makes it easier to sleep.
  4. Watch hours of TV. Watch I Don't Know How She Does it even though you've already seen it. Watch the Roseanne pilot and Google the original D.J. Hunt for lamps you won't buy online. This will make you want to go out in the world. (Eventually.) Which will prime you for sleep. Which will prepare you for reading. Which will inspire you to write.
