The First Time I Heard...

  1. Serial
Trying to escape the Glendale Americana parking structure and contemplating Sarah Koenig's opening questions about memory. Immediately fascinating.
  2. Jason Mraz
Heard The Remedy on the radio in 2002 and knew I had to find this album. I'd heard them say "Mraz" but couldn't figure out how to spell that. I wandered up to the cashier at the Barnes & Noble muttering the word and she presented me with the CD.
  3. Guys We Fucked: The Anti-Slut-Shaming Podcast
I had seen an article about this podcast (I think in the Daily Beast?) and decided to check it out. I was a dozen episodes behind, but I started from the beginning. I was angry about a boy and driving down Highland as Corinne discussed a guy asking her to get off his dick mid-sex and I was sold. Been listening every week since for over two years.
  4. Christina Aguilera's Ain't No Other Man
I was sitting at my desk, listening to the radio, studying for my sophomore finals, when I heard this song, which was unlike anything I'd ever heard before.
