THINGS I'VE ONLY EXPERIENCED WHILE LIVING IN NEW ORLEANS

On my way home to San Francisco after finishing year 2 of college in New Orleans
  1. Someone remarking on the "healthiness" of my shopping cart in the check out line
After buying a bunch of dried fruit and trail mix
  2. Someone talking to me in the check out line
And starting up a very friendly and lengthy conversation
  3. Seeing gumbo, crawfish étouffée, and jambalaya on most menus
  4. Being encouraged to come into bars at the age of 18
  5. People accepting my 25 yr old fake ID at the age of 18
  6. Beautiful and dramatic Spanish Moss hanging from every tree
  7. Mardi Gras Parades
  8. Parades in general
No one does parades quite like New Orleans
  9. Swamp
    All encompassing list item
  10. Super friendly service in the most unlikely of places
Such as the really dingy Avis rent-a-car on Canal Street or the security line at the airport
  11. This great big beautiful mess
