Why an afternoon at a nature reserve is always more fun in theory than execution

I'm currently at the Welles Natural Research Estuary and Reserve in Portland, Maine, it sounded like a great way to spend the afternoon. And then I remembered nature is boring.
  1. I never see animals
That is always my reason for going into nature, nature never delivers
  2. The beauty of natural scenery quickly loses its excitement factor.
    Oh look, more ferns
  3. BUGS IN MY EYES
  4. Uneven footing
As a clumsy person with flat feet and weak ankles, most of my nature walks and hikes are spent staring at the ground
  5. Becoming one with my thoughts
    My thoughts are all anxieties
  6. Port-a-potties
    'Nuf said
  7. Terrible cell reception
  8. Guilt about using your phone while in nature
