Eating out on Maui is not a guaranteed success. But these items never disappoint.
  1. The Mahi Mahi fish sandwich at the Paia Fish Market. Or the "Obama" (Ahi & Wasabi butter). Perfect for after playing hard in the ocean.
  2. The Ahi taquitos at Milagros in Paia. Fresh, bite-sized seared ahi in blue corn, with a the perfect complement of some sort of sweet chili sauce.
Not listed on the menu anymore, but if you ask for them, they'll make them for you.
  3. The macadamia nut pancakes at Charley's in Paia. (Go in the evening too sometime to catch some live music - and get their fries).
  4. The regular or Lilikoi margaritas at Café des Amis, along with their Mediterranean platter. Happy hour daily 3-6pm. Go in the morning for the best coffee in Paia and a spinach & feta breakfast crêpe.
  5. The Nuka Roll (spicy tuna, cucumber, avocado, shiso, jalapeño, snapper, ponzu) and Calamari salad at Nuka, Haiku. The fries are great too.
  6. THE COCONUT PARFAIT AT MAUI KOMBUCHA. And the Hawaiian toast. And cold-pressed coffee. And the prickly pear kombucha if they're serving it.
  7. ANYTHING at Matteo's, Wailea (they're ranked #1 on tripadvisor). The Maui pizzeta is a MUST. And their fresh pasta dishes are exquisite. They are also the island's only wine bar, and have the largest selection of wines by the glass on Maui.
  8. The duck fajitas at Mambo, Paia. Share a portion - they're huge!
  9. The Mopsy pizza at Flatbread, Paia.
  10. The steak sandwich at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua. With a jalapeño margarita.
  11. The Sashimi Napoleon at Bev Gannon's Hali'imaile
  12. Mama's. The Beef Polynesian (seared & served in a papaya), the lobster soup, the ahi sashimi salad, and the stuffed Mahi Mahi.
  13. PIE at Leoda's.
  14. Everything at Maka by Mana, Paia.
  15. Baguette and serendipity bar at Baked on Maui, Haiku.
  16. Quiche & croissant at La Provence, Kula.
  17. Açai bowl at Choice, Lahaina.
  18. Stick donuts at Komoda's.

  19. Roma Grande sandwich on focaccia bread, with goat cheese instead of mozzarella. Perfection with dill pickles, no onion pls. From the adjoining cafe, not restaurant.

  20. The Chocolate Raspberry Sacher cake at Mana Foods, Paia.
  21. The Trio of Salads at Alive & Well, Kahului
  22. The hot dogs at the Kū'au store.
I'm not a hot dog person. At all. But I actually really like these. Fresh, organic, high quality product. For $3.
  23. The Ahi Poke at Tamura's in Kahului
Weird but true. Tamura's is a liquor store, but they have this amazing poke bar in the far right corner of the store.
