  1. Stay in the moment.
When are humans most happy? To answer that question, researcher Matt Killingsworth built an app that let people report their feelings in real time. Among the results: We're often happiest when we're lost in the moment.
  2. Don’t think about it too hard -- because there’s no secret you’re missing out on.
Psychologist Dan Gilbert gets asked what’s the secret to happiness all the time. But he’s not depriving anyone of any answers. He says, “the secret of happiness is like the secret of dieting, there's no secret.”
  3. Get rid of some of your stuff.
Another reason to go through your closet soon. Writer Graham Hill makes the case for how taking up less space could lead to happiness.
  4. Slow down and remember to be grateful.
