    It's like luster dust, but with a matte finish. See the cheeks on the snowman? Petal dust. See the blue highlights? Petal dust. Applied with a clean brush, of course.
  2. Sanding sugar

    Add texture and crunch to your cookies with colored sanding sugar. Put a thin coating of royal icing on your cookie and sprinkle sugar over the surface, waiting a moment for the sugar to adhere, then turn the cookie over and quickly tap off the excess.
  3. Over-piping.

    Over piping gives you a chance to really develop a dimension and define the image. Just make sure the cookie is dry before you begin piping.
