MY FAVORITE SONGS OF ALL TIME

  1. 1.
"God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters" by Moby https://open.spotify.com/track/0I1oRYw2snnkobrN1HVAkF
I first heard this song almost 20 years ago when it was used to score the end of Heat (spoiler alert!). Although that movie is in my top 5 FAVORITE MOVIES this song has grown exponentially in my heart. I think it's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard and I want it played at my funeral.
  2. 2.
I just never get sick of this song. The song that gets played so many late nights into my insomniac headphones. It's the soundtrack of my dreams and fantasies. I was lucky to have drunkenly danced to this at multiple M83 shows.
  3. 3.
"Shampoo Suicide" by Broken Social Scene https://open.spotify.com/track/7taFq5O2ZWkIPuN0qm6f50
Another song I first heard thanks to a movie. SONGS 1ST HEARD ON A TV/MOVIE THAT BECAME AN INSTANT FAVORITE (but this song is as haunting as it is beautiful and maybe the most depressing track on this List)
  4. 4.
"Star Guitar" by The Chemical Brothers https://open.spotify.com/track/19mC6xktT1JyyycK6cQaXA
The best song to listen to when on a train. Also felt incredibly lucky to have heard it performed live.
  5. 5.
"I've Seen It All" by Björk (with Thom Yorke) https://open.spotify.com/track/1YVGmFUZO1neVfwT2pjrmk
My favorite song with lyrics (My top 4 are all instrumentals, with more wordless wonders elsewhere on this List). Even though this song is *technically* from a movie this version from Björk's Selmasongs album is different. Primarily because it's a duet with Radiohead's Thom Yorke. The song was nominated for Best Original Song but people only remember it because she wore a Swan Dress that night. HEAVEN FORBID SOMEONE SHOW CREATIVITY AT AN ARTS AWARD SHOW! Still mad.
  6. 6.
"Where I End And You Begin" by Radiohead https://open.spotify.com/track/1Ik35NkfL4z1JOctRIwQg0
This specific song from one of my favorite bands got me through a rough time in my life. Many songs may be better, but this is my choice. Another song I'm eternally thankful I heard performed live.
  7. 7.
"Touch Me I'm Going To Scream, Pt. 2" by My Morning Jacket https://open.spotify.com/track/629TAjfFRi1ealJowp24bo
Never heard of My Morning Jacket until NPR's All Songs Considered posted an entire concert of theirs from SXSW. They closed with this track that absolutely floored me. There's not a band I've seen perform more than MMJ and, yes, I've loved hearing this live.
  8. 8.
So many Daft Punk classics to choose from, but I bet if you looked at the data I've played this track the most.
  9. 9.
"Summertime" by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince https://open.spotify.com/track/20XdEFyaUR9C7aDIdq2OA
In recent years I've awarded - amongst other things MY 2015 MUSIC AWARDS - a Song of the Summer. This is the All Time Song of the Summer and a summer doesn't pass when I blast this out my car windows.
  10. 10.
I was a young child. Listening to this album that I rented from the library. This was my song. The rest is history.
  11. 11.
"You're the Best" by Joe "Bean" Esposito [from The Karate Kid soundtrack: https://youtu.be/oomCIXGzsR0]
This isn't my eleventh favorite song. I want to List it as a special honorable mention because this is the song I want to be played for the first dance at my wedding.
