HOW TO MAKE VIETNAMESE ICED COFFEE

You can make cà phê sữa đá just like you get at the Phở restaurant! Here's what you'll need:
  1. Stainless steel coffee filter, single cup
Find it at an Asian grocery store like Lion for less than $5
  2. Café Du Monde coffee and chicory
Yes, from the place that makes yummy beignets in New Orleans!
  3. Sweetened condensed milk
    This is key
  4. Hot water
    You got this
  5. A small cup
Usually an off white/white ceramic cup in a saucer or a glass so you can see the yummy layers
  6. A tall glass + a long handled spoon
My glass is a bit fancy, but the spoon is just right.
  7. Ice
    Crushed is even better!
  8. Here's how you put it all together:
  9. Take off the coffee filter cap
  10. Unscrew the top screen of the filter, add the ground coffee, then screw the screen down tightly
2 rounded teaspoons of coffee (adjust to your liking)
  11. Add 2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk to the glass
Sit the coffee filter on top
  12. Add hot water
Pour just enough water to cover the coffee grounds. Wait about 30 seconds.
  13. Unscrew the screen by two turns, then fill the filter with hot water
And don't get upset if you spill said hot water all over your table oops...😬
  14. Place the cap on and patiently wait
Try to distract yourself by eating home made pho. J/k I can't make it either! The coffee should be ready in about 5 minutes.
  15. Stir the coffee and sweetened condensed milk
Flip the lid upside down and sit the filter on top of it to avoid a mess on the table.
  16. Pour coffee and milk over ice
  17. Mix coffee and ice
  18. Enjoy!
