1. Hey babes!! It's about to get HOT outside which means baring more skin (if that's your thing) & swimsuits & some pretty crazy body expectations.
  2. How much have you heard about friend's/coworker's/fitness instructor's diets & bikini challenges in the past few weeks?
  3. If you're like me, you're feeling pretty exhausted by it already.
  4. But secretly you might feel like you gotta look a certain way this summer.
  5. Or maybe you're just nervous about showing more skin than usual.
  6. And you know the old saying: want a bikini body? Put a bikini on your body!
  7. Okay that's some fun phrasing amiright?? But it doesn't really help you deal with the shit you're feeling about your body in the context of summer & bathing suit season.
  8. Luckily for you, I got your back!
  9. Let's start with that summer wardrobe. Comfort is key...if you're not cool with baring your belly, you don't have to. But if you like a crop top or bikini & are just ~waiting for the perfect body~ it's time to get real with yourself! We only have so much time on this earth and it's too short to not wear something you think looks cool!
  10. I go shopping for the stressful stuff on a day in feeling good about myself. This means some advance planning (aka not 3 days before vacation!!)
  11. I send pics to my boyfriend & best friend because I know I'm too critical of my body in a bathing suit. They shower me with compliments and usually end up helping me pick something adorable!
  12. Pro tip: crocheted bathing suits have some extra stretch so if you're gaining weight (pregnancy, recovering from an eating disorder etc) they're a fab option! Check out Beauty & The Beach swimwear!
  13. Okay so now you have that perfect look for summer! Wear it!
  14. What about social media stuff?
  15. Okay first lets hit that unfollow button on anyone who posts body negative shit.
  16. Then if we see anybody posting pics that just kinda make us feel jealous of their six pack, we have two options: unfollow, or reality check. Reality checks are nice. Remind yourself that while you don't have a six pack, it's because you work & have kids & do whatever else with your time that's not doing loads of crunches & eating a specific diet
  17. And it's fab for the person who has whatever body part that making you envious, but YOU'RE NOT THEM. You have some different, equally awesome characteristics!
  18. Okay but what if you want to exercise?
  19. Do it! Run, jump, dance, swim, whatever! Summer's greatest bounty is amazing weather to do this in.
  20. BUT! Make a promise to yourself now that your workouts must make you feel good physically. No negative language & definitely no fitness classes that claim to ~destroy~ you. Fitness should be a celebration of your body, not punishment.
  21. And food?
  22. Eat what you want! But summer is an amazing time for produce! So eat some tomatoes with salt on em or a couple of slices of watermelon!
  23. But have a beer or mojito too! Nothing better than a drink on the porch 😊

  26. Summertime deserves to be enjoyed. Stay out late, eat the damn ice cream and wear what you want!
