Things I Found Myself Doing When I Realized My Cashier at Taco Bell Was A Friend From High School

  1. Background:
We are in our 30s so I think it is safe to assume her dreams for life didn't pan out as she'd hoped.
  2. I told her about the blue collar parts of my own job.
Yeah, I work at a summer camp and drive the school bus. (Meaning: I don't think any less of you for working at Taco Bell. We are all just doing the best we can with what we've got.)
  3. I literally leaned so deep into the counter so I would be physically lower than her.
I didn't even realize I was doing it until I was in a very odd position with both elbows on the counter and my head resting in my hands. I think my body was trying to help me subconsciously communicate that I did not think I was above her in any way.
  4. At the end of the encounter I found myself thanking her for my free crunch wrap supreme.
She used her position of power as manager of said Taco Bell to bless me. It was sweet and I hope she knows I think highly of her no matter her occupation.
