Beach Boys Songs, Ranked

@bjnovak suggested in a comments section that I make a Beach Boys list. Plus so many people on here wrote stuff about seeing "Love and Mercy," I thought this could be handy as a playlist. Left off "God Only Knows," "Good Vibrations" and "Wouldn't It Be Nice" because I assume you know them already. Although "Good Vibrations" honestly is the best.

  3. 3.
    Warmth of the Sun
  4. 4.
I Just Wasn't Made For These Times
Song only improved by its perfect use on "Mad Men" - along with "Tomorrow Never Knows" and "The Porpoise Song," my favorite use of music on the show.
  5. 5.
Don't Talk (Put Your Head on my Shoulder)
I read a recent interview with Brian Wilson where he was surprisingly dismissive of "Pet Sounds" as "adolescent stuff." But this was the song he singled out as truly holding up - a melody he was proud of, a solid lyric.
  6. 6.
    Heroes and Villains
  7. 7.
    Til I Die
  8. 8.
    Don't Worry Baby
I was shocked to learn this song was a tongue-in-cheek, self-conscious parody of past Beach Boys songs - Brian was kind of making fun of dumb "car songs." It's still gorgeous and a legit classic of the genre it sends up.
  9. 9.
    Wonderful
The "Smile Sessions" version, not the re-recorded "Smiley Smile" version.
  10. 10.
    Busy Doin' Nothing
An entire Mr. Show sketch was inspired by how Bob Odenkirk thought the lyrics to this song were unforgivably stupid. I always thought they were quite beautiful in their peaceful simplicity - especially since Brian wrote them soon after the whole "Smile" breakdown depicted in "Love and Mercy."

  12. 12.
    In My Room
  13. 13.

    All Summer Long
My favorite of all just straight-up, innocent, "summer fun"-kinda early Beach Boys songs.
  15. 15.
    Here Today
  16. 16.
    Surfer Girl
  17. 17.
    I Went to Sleep
Why is it always SO GOOD when rock stars sing about sleeping? (John Lennon, "I'm Only Sleeping"/ "I'm So Tired"; Chrissie Hynde, "I Go to Sleep"; Morrissey, "Asleep"; etc.)

    Time to Get Alone
