1. Roberta Flack, "Feel Like Makin' Love"
I was in sixth grade. A classmate scored an Atari 2600 video game system. I talked my way into a "playdate" with him simply so I could play Missile Command. That night, his Mom drove me home. She was beautiful, with long, brunette hair. "Feel Like Makin' Love" came on the radio. She sang along, totally absorbed and knowing every word as we drove home in the dark.
  2. Sade, "The Sweetest Taboo"
A high school dance. Six of us (three boys, three girls) did not have dates, so we all went together. Afterward, we got super drunk. I threw up off the roof of a hotel. One of the girls in this dateless crew drove me home. She put on Sade and sang along in the dark.
