7 Days of Eating Thru New York City & Hudson Valley March 2016

Turned a work trip to NYC and Hudson Valley into an eating adventure
  1. Wed dinner #1: Wang's in Park Slope in Brooklyn. Fried chicken + corn bread and scallion butter (so good!) + collards (w Chinese sausage!) + mac & cheese
    Definitely worth going to again
  2. Wed dinner #2: late night ramen & pork bun @ Ippudo
Ramen was delicious but pork bun was unnecessary
  3. Thursday lunch: Grimaldi's in Dumbo in Brooklyn
I didn't know about the whole Grimaldi's and Luciana's controversy. Pizza was fine but don't need to go back. Maybe I'll try Luciana's next time.
  4. Thursday dinner: Mister Hot Pot in Sunset Park in Brooklyn
Expensive but tasty. Don't need to go back but liked eating in that part of town
  5. Thursday dessert: Kulu Desserts in Sunset Park in Brooklyn. One of my favorite stops all trip.
Sago w coconut and grass jelly was delicious (not pictured). Mango pomelo (pictured) good but not as good as the sago.
  6. Friday lunch: Lumpia Shack at Berg'N in Crown Heights in Brooklyn
Tasty traditional Pork Lumpia and creative mushroom lumpia. At a fun market hall type space.
  7. Friday dinner: Big Wong in Manhattan Chinatown
Classic cheap eats spot for pan fried noodles, salt and pepper pork chop, and pork & thousand year old egg porridge.
  8. Saturday AM snack: Baked by Melissa Upper East Side
$1 mini macaron & $1 mini cupcakes on the way to the subway
  9. Saturday lunch: Al Di La in Park Slope in Brooklyn
Fritters were delicious. Tagliatelle was good, but not as good as I remember.
  10. Saturday PM snack #1: Wowfulls at the Smorgasburg by the Brooklyn Flea in Industry City
Super packed and fun food hall and flea market on Saturdays. Hong Kong egg waffles were good but only worth the long trek to see the spectacle. Lots of fun options: BBQ, pupusas, ramen, ramen burgers, tacos.
  11. Saturday PM snack #2: chicharrones at Ends Meat in Industry City Food Hall
  12. Saturday PM snack #3: Dickson Farmstand Meats @ Chelsea Market. Hot dog, roasted potatoes, roasted butternut squash
  13. Saturday dinner: Fuku fried chicken sandwich at Madison Square Garden
$12 fried chicken sandwich was good. So were the fries. Wish there more places to get this.
  14. Sunday lunch: Fu Run in Flushing in Queens. Best meal I had in NY.
  15. Sunday dinner: Hudson Food Studio in Hudson in Hudson Valley
Surprisingly tasty $18 ramen in Hudson
  16. Monday snack: fries @ Grazin' Diner in Hudson in Hudson Valley
Nice to have a grass fed beef diner
  17. Monday dinner: Helsinki in Hudson in Hudson Valley
7 hour braised short rib pot pie sounded better than it was, but the space was near and the bar menu looked good for another time.
  18. Tuesday breakfast: Cafe La Perche in Hudson in Hudson Valley
  19. Wednesday breakfast: kouign amman at Dominque Ansel Bakery in Soho
One of the best pastries I've ever had
  20. Wednesday lunch: Totto Ramen near midtown
  21. Central Park walk
  22. Snow!
  23. Shuttling between meetings by ferry
  24. Lovely train ride on the Hudson
