I would advise you to read and listen to all of this and don't stop early because the covers are at the end and they are all so good. Also this list is exclusively Punch Brothers. Anything that Chris Thile has done solo or with Nickel Creek will be included in a different list.
  1. After leaving the band Nickel Creek in 2006 that he had been a part of since 1989, Chris Thile formed the Punch Brothers.
  2. The name Punch Brothers comes from a Mark Twain short story "Punch Brothers Punch"
The story is about a man who goes crazy when he gets a rhyme stuck in his head "Punch brothers! Punch with care! Punch in the presence of the passenjare."
  3. The band consists of: Chris Thile
Nickname is a secret. Won the MacArthur Genius grant in 2012. One of the greatest mandolin players to ever walk the earth.
  4. Gabe Witcher
Aka Gabbers or The Judge. Received two Grammy nominations as a producer for Bluegrass Album of The Year in 2013 and 2015.
  5. Paul Kowert
Aka Arco Polo. Protégé of Edgar Meyer.
  6. Noam Pikelny
Aka Pickels. Won the first Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass in 2010 and is considered to be one of the greatest banjo players to ever live.
  7. Chris Eldridge
Aka Critter. Nominated for a Grammy in 2007. He and his former band won best emerging artist of the year, song of the year, and album of the year in 2007.
  8. So these guys know what they're doing.
  9. Although they play with bluegrass instruments their style is not primarily bluegrass. It's more of a Progressive Bluegrass/Classical/Acoustic/Rock/Jazz
  10. The Punch brothers were part of the Inside Llewyn Davis concert "Another Day Another Time" and that's a great concert to watch if you want to be introduced to the world of modern bluegrass/folk
