Inspired by everyone. Not necessarily new releases. 📽 = watched in theatre; 📺 = watched at home.

    Me Before You ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (2016) 📺
There's a bit of ableism in the movie, and I haven't read the book, but I actually really enjoyed it. Also, I cried like a baby.

    Allied ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (2016) 📽
Morocco! History! Deception! Spies! And then it also insisted on making me cry. What is with me?! I never used to cry in movies!

    A Monster Calls ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (2016) 📺
Naturally I felt the book was better. I was really excited for the movie and I was quite happy with the watercolour and the other innovative ways of getting the tales across; but I just think the movie didn't quite pack the same punch as the book.

    Collateral Beauty ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (2016) 📽
I mean... it was quite lovely and sweet and sad and beautiful. It just didn't quite blow my mind.

    Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (2013) 📺
I loooooved the cute little food animals! 😱😍🍉🥝🍓🥔🍯 the rest of the movie I thought was just okay.

    Trolls ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (2016) 📺
Super cringe-worthy?! Cute but just wow cringe around every corner.
  7. •
    Hidden Figures ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (2017) 📽
I realise this movie has some issues but overall and despite those issues I really did love it.
  8. •
    Logan (2017) 📽 ⭐️⭐️
Hated a lot of this movie sooooo much. Did have a few tears at the end though.
  9. •
    La La Land (2016) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📽
Like - it was okay? I just am not sure what all the hype was about?
  10. •
Beauty and the Beast (2017) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📽
Actually saw this at a pre-release screening two weeks ago with some girlfriends and it was amazing. I'm so so so in love with it - and can't wait for it to release in South Africa officially so I can watch it again!

    Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📽
I like animated films so generally I love these. And I definitely liked this more than the first two smurf movies! Also, I cried a little.

    Sing (2016) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📺
Aw it was cute. And even this made me cry. Seriously?!
  13. •
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 📽
I don't even know how to rate this. It was definitely the weirdest movie I've ever seen. Weird humour, really out of place soundtrack (which I kinda liked), and I wasn't sure what was happening half the time. I only really watched it for Groot anyway 🤣
  14. •
    Wonder Woman 📽 (2017) 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Clearly I'm biased but omfg asdfghjkl I loved it 😱😍
  15. •
    Everything, Everything (2017) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📽
I really liked the book but the movie was good! Not as good as the book because the book had all these little cute things that the movie tried to incorporate, it just wasn't the same. But Amandla Stenberg = woman crush everyday! 😍😍😍

    Spiderman: Homecoming 📽 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yeah... I just wasn't all that impressed I guess. A little bit funny haha but also a little generic. Not Marvel's best work.
  17. •
    Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008) 📺 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I can't rate this objectively because I watched it with The Couple and that entire experience was just really fun. The movie is definitely strange. The ending is kind of a non-event. The acting is okay. The plot is just random. But I still kinda sorta enjoyed it. 💁🏼

    Léon the Professional (1994) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📺
It's unusual for me to appreciate something with this much gratuitous violence, but the way this film made me feel... wow.
  19. •
    Amélie (2001) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📺
Can't believe I've never watched this till now. I need to watch it again though because I'm a little confused. Audrey Tautou's facial expressions though... 👌🏼

    Doctor Strange (2016) 📺 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Couple decided I HAD to watch this. It's a fun movie. Just a little bit all over the place I felt. Maybe if I had read the comics it would be different.

    Doc-u-mentally ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
You GUYS. This is a documentary about South African junior doctors. We crowdfunded for it last year. It follows five junior docs during a 30-hour shift. I watched a screening at UCT med school last week and it was so good. the cinematography is wow, and the balance of humour and seriousness (is that a word) was fantastic. I love this documentary! And I hope it wins lots of awards 😁

    Maudie (2017) ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was... interesting? I actually don't know how I feel about it. Glad I watched it though.

    Everybody Loves Somebody (2017) 📺 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was fun and funny and I mostly liked it. I wish it didn't end so predictably though

    The Glass Castle (2017) 📽 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Intense. Long. Really good acting but wow - left me feeling like I needed debriefing.
