Election Day Reads

After you vote, stop by and get more of a political fix.
  1. Election, by Tom Perrotta
Sure it's about a high school student council election, but it'll at least make you laugh. (Plus there's the Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon movie based on it!)
  2. Act of Treason, by Vince Flynn
An explosion rocks Washington a month before the election, and the CIA agent Mitch Rapp is tasked with finding those responsible.
  3. Madam President, by Nicolle Wallace
A fictional account of the first female president, whose administration starts with five major terrorist attacks on US soil, and she and her staff deal with the inevitable chaos.
  4. All the King's Men, by Robert Penn Warren
The classic political novel (also made into a classic film) about a back-country lawyer who means well with his aims at political power that eventually turn sour.
  5. American Wife, by Curtis Sittenfeld
The story of a girl from Wisconsin who finds herself married to the most powerful man in the world and has to reconcile her private life with her public persona.
