DAY 1: SOLO ALBUM

The first step.
  1. So I've started to record my very first solo record today. I tracked some mandolin and guitar and whistling.
  2. It is many years in the making, containing a collection of songs spanning the last 6 years. (Age 18-24)
  3. I'm recording the album entirely on my own, in my room at my moms house, using a couple microphones and my laptop. I'll also be playing every instrument.
Except cello. When it's all done I'm going to have to bring someone in to record those parts. I don't know how to play cello.
  4. I had to go to some pretty dark and low places in my life to get some of the material on this album. It's filled with ideas on depression, anxiety, addiction, growing up, and failed relationships.
  5. My solo music is very different from my music with my band. I've had countless musical influences throughout my life that have constructed my personal musicianship. This album in particular is informed heavily by Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens.
  6. As of right now, I'm calling it SONGS OF FLEETING PERMANENCE, VOL. 1
  7. I've written countless songs in my life, but I've decided on these 11 for this record. I think they work well together and get my message across cohesively.
  8. Here's the track list:
  9. 1. (I Was a) Young Sailor
  10. 2. Lost Love, No. I
  11. 3. An Introvert Walks into a Bar…
  12. 4. Whiskey
  13. 5. Fear
  14. 6. Anxious, Restless
  15. 7. Regret
  16. 8. Five Years Gone
  17. 9. Lost Love, No. II
  18. 10. Wasted Youth
  19. 11. twenty-three
  20. I hope to keep you updated throughout the process. I'm not sure exactly how long it will take, or when it will be finished. But you'll be the first to know when it's done.
  21. Maybe I'll do an advance listening exclusive just for List pals, like @nathanveshecco did.
Too early to know. But I like the idea.
  22. Anyway, thought I'd document this in some way. And what better way than with List.
  23. Alright, back to the music.
