Things I Realized While Watching "Janis: Little Girl Blue" on Netflix

  1. Janis Joplin, while before my time, has always fascinated me a little—but I had no idea what an immense talent she had.
  2. Apparently I am the type of person who, just as I sat in the theater hoping the Titanic would miss that iceberg, watched this hoping Janis would defeat her drug demons and live past twenty seven.
  3. The word "documentary" used to make me cringe and flash back to sleeping in a classroom, but the entire genre has grown to the point it's some of the most riveting entertainment anywhere.
  4. Some people were born to break our hearts. Rest in peace, Janis.
