  9. (I have not quit smoking.)
  10. I smoked for nine years. I started in law school. For me, it was keeping my hands busy so as to avoid thinking about smoking. I bought an Xbox. I played a LOT of video games for that initial 72-hour detox period and drank a ton of water.

  12. I took an inventory of how many cigarettes I smoked per day, then smoked one less for 2 weeks, then one less than that for 2 weeks. And so on. It took well over a year, but by then my body no longer needed the nicotine. I haven't smoked since.
It may seem counterintuitive to plan to keep smoking, but I saw it as a 1.5 year investment in never smoking again.

  16. The Kerry Graynor Method (Hypnosis)
I've smoked for 26 years. I bought this last year because I'm turning 40 this year and I wanna quit. I have no idea if it works because I'm too scared to try (in case it works). I'm obviously the problem here, but I hear this has good results.

  17. If you cave and buy cigarettes, throw the pack away after you've had the one or few you wanted in the moment you bought them. And also pour water all over them before you throw them in the trash so that they are ruined and you can't just pull the box out of the trash (addiction is real, y'all).
This makes getting cigarettes extremely annoying and can get expensive fast as well, both of which helped me stop wanting to cave and go get them.
