1. Space Oddity. Heard it when I was about 6 and didn't entirely get it but it was weird and sad and I loved the whole vibe. Welcome to a lifetime of melancholy.
  2. Rebel, Rebel. That guitar sound! Popular on classic rock radio, which was about the only hard rock we got in Western New York in the late 1980s, it sounded nothing like Skynyrd or Boston or whatever and sent me looking for more.
  3. Fame. Rerelease in the early 90s, I had the cassette single and listened to it repeatedly.
  4. Ziggy Stardust. So weird, so perfect. Another song that made me realize there was a lot going on in the world that was only hinted at in my shitty small town.
