The only five Halloween-linked books we have in our house that are worth mentioning...
  1. 1.
Haunted house by Jan Pienkowski. Childhood treasure and pop-up perfection from an absolute literary genius. A Doctor enters a haunted house, encountering spooky surprises hidden behind flaps, eyes following you and tentacles reaching out from each colorful double-page spread. Your kids will love it.
  2. 2.
Wolf man by Michael Rosen, illustrated by Chris Mould. Rosen is an underrated genius, all his books are endlessly enjoyed. A hilarious twist in this tale of a ferocious wolf man on the loose. Your kids will ask for this over and over again. And again. My children think this book is the funniest thing ever. Buy or borrow it, you won't regret it.
  3. 3.
The haunted house by Kazuno Kohara. Lovely linocut prints in this tricolour treat of a book. A little girl moves into a haunted house...but how will she deal with the ghosts? Bright and bold illustrations, a basic plot but younger children will enjoy the simplistic character portraits and the smiley not-scary-at-all ghosts.
