Some under appreciated favorites of mine.
  1. The Returned (Les Revenants)
Paranormal drama. French subtitled, Canal+ via Sundance. available on Amazon Prime. best soundtrack to any show (by Mogwai!) enhances the moodiness. unbelievably careful editing and storytelling and stellar cast. Do not let the subtitle thing stop you from giving this show a chance.
  2. The Wrong Mans
Crime comedy. BBC via Hulu exclusive. There is a scene from this show that made laugh harder than anything I've ever seen in my life. Great combo of suspense and comedy.
  3. Broad City
Comedy. Comedy Central. You will want to be friends with these brilliant, hilarious girls. The episode about retrieving a UPS package from a pickup location is priceless. Everyone I have pointed in the direction of this show has loved it and you will, too.
  4. Northern Exposure
Drama and folklore. No idea what network it was on. As Netflix revives our love of older shows, somehow this one has escaped any and all acclaim because it hasn't been available on streaming. find the DVDs! it's fantastic both in cast, writing and variety. There isn't a character you won't love and you'll probably want to go to Alaska.
  5. Bloodline
Thriller / Drama. Netflix. The pacing of this show is incredibly well done. Great cast, very dark.
  6. Roseanne
Sitcom. Available on Netflix. Do me a favor and revisit this one. Now tell me: who did whom the favor?
  7. I'll add more if I think of any that aren't as appreciated as they should be. feel free to suggest / comment / discuss
