1. To fully understand my humor, you must first know that I come from a looooong line of people who can find humor in nearly any situation.
I would say it mostly comes from my father's side of the family, where even at events like funerals, there was almost as much laughter as tears. And often at the expense of the dearly departed. 😉
  2. Knowing that should help you understand this -
My father died unexpectedly of a heart attack when I was 20. It was devastating. All 4 of us children came home to be with my mother right away, and the next morning found us sitting around the dining table talking about the plans for the funeral as we waited for my mom to get up. She finally emerged from her room, and immediately said "I'm so sorry, it was the only clean t-shirt I could find." 😯
  3. Now, I don't know if you remember when organizations used to do a particular fundraiser.
I don't know if they do it anymore, but back in the day, many charitable organizations used to do this "fun"draiser during which you could have someone "put in jail", and they had to call people to raise their "bail", i.e. donations to the charity, in order to be released. And my mother had participated in one. For the American Heart Association. And she received a t-shirt promoting the event. ☺
  4. Yep.
She was wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the words "Cardiac Arrest"... the day after my dad died from a heart attack. We laughed and laughed and laughed, which we all needed desperately after so many hours of crying, and all agreed that Dad would have found it utterly perfect. 😂
  5. Schadenfreude is truly my wheelhouse, and it has served me very well over the years. Thanks, Dad. ❤
