With commentary based on my experiences at this August's D23 Expo in Anaheim.
  1. The Good Dinosaur (Pixar)- November 25th, 2015
From Google: "A young dinosaur (Raymond Ochoa) named Arlo develops an unlikely friendship with a boy." From me: BRING TISSUES, because the clip we saw at D23 made me cry. Didn't learn a huge amount about the plot, but it's visually breathtaking. Watch the trailer if you haven't yet!
  2. Zootopia (WDAS)- March 4th, 2016
Judy Hops (Ginnifer Goodwin), a bunny police officer, and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a con-artist fox, team up so solve Judy's first big case. I was unsure about this movie before I attended D23, but the clips we saw were surprisingly hilarious. The DMV employees were all sloths!!! There's a singing gazelle voiced by Shakira!
  3. Finding Dory (Pixar)- June 17th, 2016
Much anticipated sequel to Finding Nemo, where the gang looks for Dory's long-lost family at the Monterey Marine Life Institute. By far the best panel at D23, mostly because a bunch of cast members (incl. Ellen, Ty Burrell, Ed O'Neill, Kaitlin Olson- this movie has a GREAT cast) were there making us laugh. The clips looked very promising as well.
  4. Moana (WDAS)- November 23rd, 2016
Moana (Auli'i Cravalho), in search of a mythical island, followers her ancestors' footsteps on a journey across the South Pacific- with her pet pig. They also team up with her hero, the demi-god Maui (Dwayne Johnson). We saw a clip of baby Moana playing in the ocean, and it was one of the most beautiful pieces of animation I've ever seen. Also the music (mostly performed by an Oceanic band) is being written by LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA, people.
  5. Cars 3 (Pixar)- June 16th, 2017
There's hardly any info on this movie online, and it was not discussed at D23 (they released the poster though).
  6. Coco (Pixar)- November 22nd, 2017
Set in Mexico, about a boy named Miguel who becomes involved in a mystery related to Dia de Los Muertos. They were very vague on story info during the panel, but showed us a lovely animation test.
  7. Gigantic (WDAS)- March 9th, 2018
Re-telling of Jack and the Beanstalk, in which Jack is from Spain. At the top of the beanstalk, he meets a young giant named Inma, based on a real girl the producers met on a research trip to Spain. We were told other giants (including a group of evil ones) are multicultural. The music is by the songwriting duo responsible for Frozen, who performed one of the songs at the panel. They also released this cute concept art!
  8. Toy Story 4 (Pixar)- June 15th, 2018
According to John Lasseter, this will be the first romantic comedy of the Toy Story franchise. Starring Woody and Bo Peep, of course.
  9. The Incredibles 2 (Pixar)- June 21st, 2019
Like Cars 3, there's not much info on this yet. It wasn't discussed at D23, but they did have a poster on display.
