That Time I Was in the Second Row of Waitress Opening Night at the American Rep

  1. So I love Sara Bareilles, so when I saw on her Twitter that she was writing a musical I was super excited
  2. When I saw that it was premiering over the summer in Cambridge, I was even more excited
  3. So my roommate and I bought tickets based on 'what's the cheapest seats we can find on a night we don't have to work'
  4. We paid $25 per ticket
  5. And the night we randomly selected
  6. WAS OPENING NIGHT
  7. SARA BAREILLES WAS THERE
I spent a great majority of time looking backwards at her
  8. SO WAS NATHAN FILLON
    I didn't see him though
  9. OUR SEATS WERE IN THE SECOND ROW
    PICTURE PROOF
  10. TO REPEAT, we paid $25 TO SIT IN FRONT OF SARA BAREILLES ON OPENING NIGHT
  11. And it was one of the best nights ever
  12. Jessie Mueller has the voice of an actual angel and I was so close I could see the brand of her shoes and it was amazing
  13. The people sitting around us were have just as great a time as we were
The girl sitting to my right cried a river of tears during "She Used to Be Mine" and not gonna lie I may have too
  14. I had a minor religious experience when the three waitresses sing "Soft Place to Land"
  15. Plus, it's the first Broadway musical with the top four creative spots filled by all women
    Yay, women!
  16. Tonight the previews begin on Broadway
  17. I can't bake anything anymore without a chorus of 'sugar, butter, flour' playing in the back of my head
  18. Happy first day of previews, Waitress!
