Inspired by @emily_elizabeth. June 3rd!
  1. I am a Northeasterner living in the South.
    Static
Originally from Maryland. Now in Atlanta. It definitely affects what you love and what you hate about a city a lot.
  2. I am extremely judgmental.
    Giphy
I don't have it all figured out, but I somehow judge you if you don't.
  3. I refuse to only consume modern entertainment.
    Giphy
Sitcoms like I Love Lucy, films with Cary Grant, old Bollywood music and movies are all musts.
  4. I latch onto topics and don't let them go until you're sick of them.
    Giphy
  5. I like U.S. travel way more than international travel.
    Static
There are so many cool places to visit here, too!
  6. I have been described as a "Bollywood encyclopedia".
    Giphy
  7. I make mountains out of molehills.
    Giphy
  8. I still watch children's television.
    Giphy
Liv and Maddie is my current favorite.
  9. My fashion choices are constantly changing.
    Giphy
Until the age of 11, I was skinny as a stick and dressed alright. After I gained weight, I began dressing terribly; I didn't know what to do with my body. Once I started college, I reinvented my look with lots of colors, patterns, and professional clothes (thank you @mindy for the inspiration). Only now will I start wearing a minimal amount of makeup. 😱
  10. I have financial thresholds for everything and absolutely hate the idea of exceeding them, even if I can afford to.
    Giphy
  11. I am always down for a good dessert.
    Giphy
  12. I can be a hypocrite/lie to myself.
    Giphy
I think I like to believe I'm better than I am. Ex. When my family orders takeout, I always say I won't eat it because I'm sick of eating out, but I always steal enough food for a meal anyway.
  13. I have a weird aversion to alcohol and clubs.
    Giphy
  14. My mother knows 98% of what happens in my life.
    Giphy
The other 2% is because she wasn't listening.
  15. I bite my nails.
    Giphy
  16. I cried at the Hall of Presidents at Disney World.
    Static
Because my parents immigrated here, I find I sometimes have a stronger sense of patriotism than my peers who have been here for generations.
  17. I trained in Indian classical singing for 8 years.
    Static
I wish I could still practice, but it's super awkward to belt out songs in an apartment and have people overhear.
  18. I love standing out in a crowd.
    Giphy
I'm usually in a brightly patterned dress.
  19. I'm allergic to rain.
    Giphy
Before you ask, no, it's not pollen. This happens year-round. I often predict the rain by sneezing a few hours ahead of the actual rainfall. (This has not been confirmed by an allergist. I take Zyrtec, and it helps, but anyone I've lived with can confirm the pattern.)
  20. I'm a horrible artist.
    Static
  21. If I could do anything with no limitations, I would have a seat at the power table for diversity in media.
    Giphy
Personally, I notice that Indians (maybe even just chalk it up to South Asians as a whole) have a tendency to avoid discussing the "real stuff". We have issues we face constantly around the world - mental health, domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual identity, honor killings, sexism, racism. Yet you'll only see half-assed arranged marriage problems if you have a "fleshed-out" Indian character. There's more to our lives than that.
  22. I can't believe I'm 22 years old.
    Giphy
(This GIF is appropriate because Anderson Cooper and I share a birthday.)
