AN ALPHABET LIST OF MUSIC ACTS I'VE SEEN PERFORM LIVE

Inspired by @TQ • Saw his list and thought it'd be a good idea. Decided to do a mix of classic/famous performers and more current stuff. Individuals are listed by last name. Gonna do a true A-Z someday where I'll make a list for each letter. But here's a small sampling for now...
  1. ANIMAL COLLECTIVE
I've seen them three times already and have a ticket to see them in May. One of the best things currently going in music.
  2. BLACK LIPS
Atlanta's fabulous "flower punks." Totally irreverent and wild, they infuse punk with a bit of psychedelia and the results are glorious.
  3. NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS
I've had the good fortune to see Nick Cave four times with the Bad Seeds. Always shows why he's one of the most revered showmen of our time.
  4. DEERHUNTER
There is so much good music coming out of Atlanta these days that it's not even funny. One of my favorite current bands along with Animal Collective.
  5. HANNI EL KHATIB
Awesome, gritty garage rock. Guy is just a beast of a guitar player. From California, but seems to get way more love in Europe than North America.
  6. FAITH NO MORE
Got to see them on the Angel Dust tour. I wasn't even old enough to drive, but had a cool older brother that took me to see them on the tour of that groundbreaking album.
  7. GRATEFUL DEAD
Luckily got to see the Grateful Dead with Jerry Garcia a couple of times a few months before his death. He was well past his prime, but he still tapped into his magic a few times and touched on the sublime.
  8. HELMET
Got to see the classic 90s Helmet lineup a few times. They were so heavy back then.
  9. INTERPOL
I still really like these guys and enjoy their last few records just as much as the early stuff. Hope they have a long career.
  10. JÓNSI
Sigur Rós frontman put out a stunning solo album several years ago and did a very short tour in support of it and I managed to catch his Atlanta show, which was on Halloween. A magical evening.
  11. FEMI KUTI
Was way too young to ever see Fela KUTI, but his eldest son Femi has quite a formidable band of his own and they kick so much ass live.
  12. THE LEMONHEADS
Thanks older brother for letting me tag along to shows with you when I couldn't drive myself.
  13. MORRISSEY
Would've loved to see him in his prime or with The Smiths, but even late-00s super grouchy Moz put on a great show.
  14. NIRVANA
This is one of the bigger feathers in my concert-going cap. Saw them when they were touring In Utero.
  15. OLD CROW MEDICINE SHOW
A band that is unfairly maligned because of one hit that's covered by every awful bar band in the English speaking world. Got to see them way back when before that song and have been a fan ever since.
  16. PHISH
I'm not even going to pretend that I haven't seen this band a bazillion times. Hell, they've done official releases of 4-5 shows I've been to.
  17. QUINTRON & MISS PUSSYCAT
One of the most inventive acts I listen to. A New Orleans based couple that makes some super quirky, but amazing songs with very minimal instrumentation.
  18. RADIOHEAD
We need that new album and some more tour dates soon guys. You don't tour enough and I haven't seen you enough times to my liking.
  19. SIGUR ROS
Seeing them live is a religious experience. Love these guys so much that my phone autocorrects to Icelandic.
  20. TV ON THE RADIO
I kind of thought these guys would be a lot bigger now than they actually are. Oh well, at least they can pack out theaters.
  21. UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA
Crossed them off the list very recently.
  22. SHARON VAN ETTEN
Seen her twice: once opening for Nick Cave in Nashville and the other time playing a headlining show in Nashville.
  23. WOVENHAND
Been following this man his entire career and not sure I've ever encountered someone as gravely serious and powerful.
  24. XYLOURIS WHITE
Never thought I'd get a chance to see this Greek/Australian duo live and ended up seeing them twice in five months due to opening for other bands.
  25. YURI YUNAKOV
Bulgarian Roma sax player plays frenetic folk music that many have dubbed "Balkan jazz." It's certainly unlike anything you've ever heard.
  26. ZS
Fantastic, complex stuff on drums, sax and guitar. Not for the faint of heart.
