1. I've been witnessing the near hysteria on the television coverage and IRL.
And, tbh, I can't get myself that worked up. You may think I'm complacent, but you would be wrong.
  2. Not because I don't care about the state of our country, because I do.
    Very much.
  3. But I can't control it.
  4. I can't control how these politicians decide to run this country anymore than I had control over this last year and a half of my own life.
  5. You see, my perspective has changed.
    My expectations have been altered.
  6. The man I love was diagnosed with a heart condition he contracted from a virus.
It's likely forever with Meds to control it.
  7. I had a malignant melanoma removed.
    All clear now.
  8. I lost my daughter in the blink of an eye.
  9. I've spent every day since, trying not to be angry and bitter.
It's not who I want to be..
  10. I don't have the energy.
    I'm tired.
  11. And I just want some peace and serenity.
  12. What is the point of engaging in political dialogue/debates that create drama and divisiveness, but have no positive outcome because it's out of our control?
This is not the same as actually getting involved and trying to implement change. I'm taking about being judgmental and closing our minds to everyone's beliefs but our own, and using it as an excuse to be hateful.
  13. Lets focus our energies on what we CAN control.
  14. How we treat each other.
  15. What we do for others.
  16. Let's be less exclusive and more inclusive.
  17. Less closed minded and more open hearted.
  18. Lets look at the big picture and try to contribute where we can to make this world a better place.
  19. I need it to be.
  20. Don't you?
