Questions to Ask to Authenticate Feelings

I swim in feelings, emotions. It's hard to tell what's real and what's contrived, or less than real. Or how to prioritize. Here's a guideline on how to determine what has ground to stand on.
  1. Does this feeling stem from some insecurity within yourself?
    Sometimes we are compelled to do something because we want to prove something to ourselves, an unresolved question from the past. Am I projecting, hiding something? Am I transferring/placing the value on the wrong thing?
  2. Do you like the thing in itself, or the idea of it more?
    Do the actual thing and the idea of the thing match-up? If not, what's the disconnect?
  3. When in the feeling, what does the feeling give you? What, as best as you can describe it, does it feel like?
