Questions to Ask to Authenticate Feelings
I swim in feelings, emotions. It's hard to tell what's real and what's contrived, or less than real. Or how to prioritize. Here's a guideline on how to determine what has ground to stand on.
- •Does this feeling stem from some insecurity within yourself?Sometimes we are compelled to do something because we want to prove something to ourselves, an unresolved question from the past. Am I projecting, hiding something? Am I transferring/placing the value on the wrong thing?
- •Do you like the thing in itself, or the idea of it more?Do the actual thing and the idea of the thing match-up? If not, what's the disconnect?
- •When in the feeling, what does the feeling give you? What, as best as you can describe it, does it feel like?
