Chapter Books to Read to My Kids at Bedtime
Now that my 6-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter are able to read and enjoy picture books by themselves, we are reading them longer books at bedtime. We have the first three books all lined up but would love suggestions.
- •Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's StoneWe started this right after Christmas (the new illustrated edition), and so far so good. We have found that if we speak with bad British accents and exaggerate emotions the kids are way more interested. My 4-year-old has been known to fall asleep while we read it, but I consider that a successful bedtime tale.
- •Alice's Adventures in WonderlandThis is next in line, as I got a lovely edition illustrated by Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co.
- •James and the Giant Peach (or anything by Roald Dahl)
