CENTRAL FLORIDA DIARIES
This is something I always wanted to do when I was working in local news. A series of stories about Central Florida, relating the best the region has to offer.
- •Sebastian Inlet State ParkWorld class surf at 1st and 2nd Peak, serious saltwater fishing, camping, kayaking and even great snorkeling when there is no swell. Make it a day trip or a weekend. Awesome!
- •Christner's Prime Steak & LobsterLee Road in Winter Park. Old school steak house down to the piano bar and table side magician.
- •Bok Tower GardensBesides the beautiful singing tower that is the centerpiece of this wonderful slice of Central Florida, the garden is situated in the very rare long leaf pine habitat. A few hundred feet east of the tower you can overlook the plains adjacent to the Lake Wales Ridge at an elevation of almost 300 feet. And you thought Florida was flat!
- •Treats on the Beach, New Smyrna BeachIn a city with more ice cream stores per capita than any other city in the country, Treats on the Beach tops them all for location and fun. At the end of Flagler Ave a block off the beach, you can't beat the price or quality. Go ahead, get the banana split!
