And in That Moment … We Were Infinite

There have been a few moments in my life where i felt so alive, so perfect, that I can still feel it in my heart. I can remember every detail.
  1. In April 2000, four of my friends and I decided to go on an adventure. We decided to go visit the shopping center that our economics teacher owned.
We planned on getting business cards from all the stores and surprising him the next day. We did that. And afterwards, we went to the beach. The north shore. Long Island Sound. We sat on the dock. We looked across, all the way to Connecticut. We watched sun turn the sky beautiful colors. It was the first time I remember that feeling.
  2. On December 21, 2002, My sister and I went to see Dave Matthews Band at Madison Square Garden
It was only my 3rd concert, and my first during a winter tour. We had good seats, close enough to watch the band instead of the screens. The show was solid. After Too Much, the music didn't stop. The road crew brought out a bunch of microphones. Then Dave said, "Ladies and gentlemen, the godfather of soul, Mr. James Brown!" I've never heard a louder crowd before, or since. They played Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine. Confetti cannons were going off. The place was shaking. I was amazed.
  3. In March 2008, my ex wife, then just my best friend, decided to have a picnic
This was before we dated. I had a crush on her. She had a boyfriend who only would see her Saturday and Tuesday nights. Like clockwork. Otherwise he ignored her. So we hung out the other 5 nights. She asked if I wanted to go to montauk and have a picnic. We packed up sandwiches and snacks. We drove east until we could go no further. It was cold. Dark. We set up our picnic, looked up at the stars over the Atlantic Ocean. We saw shooting stars. I think we both felt a bond stronger than friendship
  4. I can't wait to add more of these moments in the future …
