Not necessarily iconic, I just love them. This list will grow & does not include musicals, which feels like its own list entirely

I never really had major career aspirations. I just sort of worked hard at a job to make money & kept my interests/passions separate as part of my personal life
I'd kinda like to change that. Lemme provide some background...
  2. β€’
When I graduated college, my primary goal to get out of the house & start my adult life. I truly didn't care how I achieved that. So I took the best job offer I got at the time: working in sales for a large health insurance company
It's just as exciting as it sounds. But I was put in a great summer-long training program to learn healthcare 101 & sales skills. I worked for 4 years as the rep who managed health plans that large companies (Hilton Hotels, BCBG, etc) offer their employees. I got the chance to leave a job I didn't really enjoy when I move from LA to SF to marry my (now) husband
  3. β€’
I transferred that healthcare knowledge into a career on the inverse side: Human Resources
I spent 7 years managing the company's health insurance offerings. I also spent those years being an HR jack-of-all-trades. I did recruiting, some learning & development (creating/delivering training sessions), finally ending up as a project manager who implemented & managed a brand-new HR & Payroll system (time-keeping, goal-setting, benefit elections, etc). I never had any direct reports, but I was always a team leader. All these roles were at the same company, an environmental non-profit

  1. β€’
    Twelfth Night
5-person cast from area professional troupe, in my local library, with 13 1st grade Daisy Scouts & their parents. I organized a kids-first-Bard experience for my kid's Scout troop. The San Francisco Shakespeare Festival tours a shortened (but original language in tact!) play around schools, libraries, shelters, & community centers each winter. I schooled the girls on the play's plot & Bard's language β€” they ended up loving it. This is a pic of some of the girls with the cast
  2. β€’
    Matilda the Musical
National touring group, Center for Performing Arts in San Jose, with my daughter. We have been obsessed with the soundtrack ever since. Amazing choreography and effects, energetic cast, the perfect first experience for a kid seeing a professional play
  3. β€’
    The Little Mermaid Mini-Musical
Local children's theatre class, in our suburb's community center, my husband & son & I watching my daughter & her friends perform. She played Flotsam & various fishes/merfolk, they sang Disney songs in their hand-made costumes, & I laughed the whole time. Yes, this pic is my kid as a villainous second-banana eel

I take forever on LRs, always have to see what good stuff you all write about first 😎 (plus hard to find time to write this without the benefit of saving a draft, ahem)
  1. 1.
Hot takes are best reserved for pop culture, not politics
In these days where truth is fiction & day is night, any political opinion better be backed up by proven facts. Otherwise, best to just withhold an opinion about an issue until you've committed some time to learning about it. Better to say "I need to read up more on that" than to exclaim loudly about an issue based off just skimming some headlines. But by all means, proclaim your firm & wholly subjective stances on Dorito flavors or Marvel movies loud & proud πŸ“°πŸ—ž
  2. 2.
You can rail & complain all you want (with valid concerns about everything from format changes to bullying), but Li.st HQ doesn't really care
Or feel the need to respond πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ (with that said, I am always grateful to have found this platform & all of you)
  3. 3.
Generalizations about generations makes you look stupid
I already thought this (HR "studies" & hiring trends based on generation gaps always posses me off in my old job), but all my Li.st interactions just proved it. We've all made great relationships here with people of all ages & backgrounds. One age group is not lazier, more entitled, harder-working, more ethical, or going through a tougher time than any other. It's all hard, & we're all trying our best (plus, we all like so much of the same pop culture!) πŸ‘΄πŸ½πŸ‘±πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ’›

Inspired by a Twitter convo initiated by the lovely @lexie_elyse - let's Make List Great Again 🀘🏼I'm willing to get covered in Nickelodeon-green slime in front of Marc Summers if it comes to that - who's with me? (Seriously though - bring back drafts & I'll film myself doing one)
Got 2 related items where 1 is superior? Add on! (No need to include the super obvious, like originals being better than sequels, or book versions being better than films)
