Very random musings. HBD Hayao Miyazaki, you're amazing and your stories and characters are absolutely wonderful!
  1. Ponyo opening credits
These are so beautiful and meditative and I could probably watch this sequence for hours.
  2. When Totoro, Totoro minis, and the girls make the plants grow
No one makes stories that encapsulate childhood and wonder like Miyazaki 💛
  3. That characters are more gray instead of black and white.
  4. Totoro 💕
  5. "Ponyo loves Ham!"
  6. This giant head
  7. Kiki
  8. Gigi
  9. Depictions of family
Decent amount of variety and living -- how often is the dad a primary care provider and NOT failing at it in American movies?
  10. Soot sprites
  11. That old people aren't just crones but actual characters.
  12. Giant floating mom of the sea
  13. Love of flight and motion and just love in The Wind Rises
This one is so nuanced and lovely and beautiful and totally not my kids favorite. But I love it.
  14. Angry at parents at the beg of Spirited Away
    Ugh, parents are the worst
  15. Revert revert revert
I wish I could grab my kids and go, "revert revert revert revert" like some crazed magician and stop them from growing and changing.
  16. The book "Howl's Moving Castle" by Dianna Wynne Jones
DWJ doesn't get the love she deserves. High five to Studio Ghibli for adapting her story.
  17. Gonna go watch My Neighbor Totoro 🙌💙🎉
