Went to Cinefamily last night and saw a quadruple feature of female helmed horror flicks.
  1. Humanoids from the Deep (1980)
Mutated sea creatures terrorize a town and rape college women. Are they horny or do they wamt to reproduce? No time to answer, it's 80 mins and shlocky/sleazy as fuck.
  2. Slumber Party Massacre (1982)
Really the only feminist slasher film to exist. Also a lean 82 mins, it has equal intentional/unintentional laughs and if you've ever ready anything by Carol Clover, Rita Mae Brown and Amy Holden Jones have fun with final girl/phallic weapon tropes! If you haven't seen this, watch it right now. Don't even finish this list!
  3. Sorority House Massacre (1986)
A weird hybrid rip-off of Slumber Party and Halloween. This is the shortest of the bunch, clocking in at 76 minutes, but it feels the longest. I wouldn't watch it unless it was with a crowd at a theater, to be honest.
  4. Stripped to Kill (1987)
More a thriller than a horror film, Kay Lenz goes undercover as a stripper to find a murderer that's taking out the other girls at the club. This is one artsy strip club where the girls get topless in some of the most elaborate stage sets ever seen at a strip club, they are paid by the hour, and tipping is illegal. The material is played straight by the actors and the twist of the killer is too absurd, but it's still fun!
